Did you know you can use your SNAP EBT card to buy fresh, local foods, and get additional fruits and vegetables for free? Using SNAP and Virginia Fresh Match at Spotsylvania Farmers Market is a great way to stretch your SNAP and double your benefits.
WHAT IS SNAP and VIRGINIA FRESH MATCH?
It is a matching program using market tokens that enables you to use your SNAP benefits at local farmers markets. Market tokens are wooden coins that are accepted by market vendors. Each token has a value of $1. There are two types of tokens: BLUE SNAP EBT tokens and RED Virginia Fresh Match tokens.
HOW DOES IS WORK? (IT'S EASY!)
1. Bring your SNAP EBT card to the Market Manager’s tent.
2. Swipe your card for the amount of BLUE SNAP EBT market tokens you wish to buy. These BLUE SNAP EBT Tokens can be used to buy SNAP-eligible foods.
3. For every $1 BLUE SNAP EBT token, you get a FREE $1 RED Virginia Fresh Match token up to $30 per week. These RED Virginia Fresh Match tokens can be used to buy healthy, delicious fresh produce.
4. Go shopping! Use your BLUE and RED tokens to make your purchases directly from vendors around the market.

USING CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS AT THE MARKET
Every vendor accepts cash and most, but not all, vendors accept credit/debit cards. While we encourage you to use your credit and debit cards directly with vendors, if necessary, you can visit the Market Token tent and debit money from your credit or debit card in $5 increments. You will receive $5 GREEN wooden tokens that all vendors will accept and that spend just like cash.
